We’ll be the first to admit that we’re not exactly a neutral party when it comes to voting for the very best beach in America. And if you haven’t (yet) had the pleasure of visiting us on Siesta Key, you may be wondering, “What makes them #1, anyway?”
And while we could point to our old Florida charm, still intact despite outlying development; our vibrant food scene; bumping night life; or our record-breakingingly beautiful sunsets…it’s our enchanting, white quartz crystal sand that really sets Siesta Key apart from all the rest!
Where most beaches’ sand is made of pulverized coral, the quartz sand on Siesta Beach (just a hop, skip, and a jump from our hamlet on Turtle Beach) is actually an ancient product of the Appalachian mountains, and part of the sediments deposited on our shores after millions of years of down-flowing Appalachian river activity. And though the evidence is primarily anecdotal, countless visitors have reported healing benefits derived from the white quartz sand, so white that it reflects the sun and actually feels cool underfoot, even in summer! Its powder-soft consistency makes it squeak when you walk across it, and doesn’t stick to your skin like most sand does. We’ve even heard our guests report that crossing onto the key suddenly feels like being scooped up in a loving, relaxing embrace!
Come see for yourself what makes Siesta Key (and Turtle Beach Resort) one of the most beautiful places on earth. We’ll even throw in a hot tub.
